Breathtaking family portrait photography, Sutherland Shire
I like to shoot family portrait photography sessions in outdoor locations during sunset.
That’s because the sun gives us a beautiful natural warmth and depth; it provides natural contrast and lights up so many aspects of an image – the trees, leaves, and people. It results in some truly amazing shots for you.
Where do we go for our family photo shoot?
We can go to any place you like in the Sutherland Shire.
I’m also happy to recommend some of my favourite locations. My favourite place for family photos is Cape Solander Lookout in Kurnell, I also like Silver beach, Kurnell (which is also dog friendly – if you’d like to include your pets!). Stanwell Park Beach is another lovely spot.
And of course, the photo shoot can be done at your home if you prefer.
How long will the family portrait photography session take?
Most sessions take 1-1.5 hours. I spend the first 15 minutes getting to know you and children. It’s important that you all feel comfortable with me as this will result in the most natural and relaxed photos.
What time are family portrait photography sessions?
Photo shoots are done at sunset and depending on what time of year it is, will depend on what time your photo shoot is.
During the middle of summer sunset time is at 8.30pm, so meeting at 7.30pm is ideal. During the middle of winter, sunset is at 5pm so I like to meet at 4pm.
Your family photo shoot will be scheduled for a Saturday evening. I only book one family shoot per month, so booking in early is ideal to secure the date/time of year of your preference.

‘Lorna was amazing! She is very much in touch with the client as opposed to a point and shoot session. We had our photos taken outdoors and it was fantastic. We were so comfortable and felt at ease.’ Read more Testimonials
